Multi-Plant Performance Intelligence

How do our plants compare, like for like?

The manufacturing problem

Group reports rank plants on yield, and the plant at the bottom quickly points out that its fruit, product mix and run lengths are different. Sites may also define loss differently, calibrate differently, and treat rework in their own way. The ranking creates more argument than improvement.

What Yieldstem is designed to analyze

Standardized definitions applied to every site's records, with each plant's local systems mapped to one measure of yield. Comparison is normalized for raw material, product mix and other documented conditions, and the adjustment is always shown next to the reported figure.

Why it matters operationally

Once differences that belong to raw material are removed, what remains is more likely to reflect practice that can be shared. Plants can compare how they run similar material and learn from each other.

The decision it supports

Where to allocate production among sites, where capital would have the most effect, and which site's practice is worth studying for a given product family.

Same product family, three plantsSeason to date · Example data
  • Reported yield
  • Normalized for raw material and mix
  • Plant A Lower-solids regional fruit

    64.9% → 66.0%

  • Plant B Higher-solids fruit, shorter runs

    67.1% → 66.1%

  • Plant C Fruit close to the group median

    65.8% → 65.4%

A 2.2-point gap between Plants A and B narrows to 0.1 once raw-material differences are accounted for. Plant C moves from second to third.

Start with the problem that costs you most.

Few operations need all of this at once. If one of these questions is already being argued about in your plant, it is a practical place to begin the conversation.
